hey everyone, this would be the first blog wouldn't it?
well, the georgetown hoyas (5) are coming into the petersen events center tonight to face pitt (15) in what has become a heated rivalry over the past few years. georgetown comes in with a record of 13-1 with a 3-0 big east record, while pitt has a 14-2 record overall, 2-1 in big east play.
the matchup everyone is looking forward to is 7'2" senior georgetown center roy hibbert vs. pitt 6'7" freshman forward/center dejuan blair. for the past two years, hibbert's pitt counterpart has been 7'0" center aaron gray, but gray, a senior last year, is now in the nba, leaving hibbert with a 6" height advantage to blair. but i think that blair will do better than people expect him to. because of the athleticism that blair has and gray did not, blair could actually serve as a better matchup for pitt. it will all depend if either player gets in foul trouble.
forwards patrick ewing jr and dajuan summers; and guards jonathan wallace, jessie sapp, and austin freeman round out georgetown's top 6.
while forward sam young (18.4 ppg, 4th in the big east), other forwards gilbert brown and tyrell biggs, and guards ronald ramon and keith benjamin fill out pitt's main contributors.
frontcourt: adv georgetown
backcourt: adv. pitt
depth: adv. georgetown
skill: adv. georgetown
toughness: adv. pitt
intangibles: adv. pitt
because of the home court advantage that pitt has tonight (all time 80-8 at PEC), i predict this will be a very close game, possibly coming down to the final minute of play.
i will predict that pitt wins 74-72.
good call
