Pitt vs. Georgetown - Recap

Hey everyone what a way to start my blogging here!!

Pitt versus Georgetown lived up to its hype from start to finish. The Pitt Panthers started off quick with a 5-0 lead and never looked back; they never gave up the lead throughout the whole game. Even when the Hoyas got the lead to 47-44 the panthers pulled away with a three point play by Blair and then another three point play by Benjamin on a sensational layup.
And even though Sam Young did not have a great game, Ramon stepped up on his 22nd Birthday with 18 points 4 assists and more importantly 1 turnover, which meant he controlled the game. Benjamin and Blair had great games, Benjamin with 18 points and 2 threes and Blair with 15 pts and 9 rebounds, he also played outstanding defense on Roy Hibbert. Hibbert, by the way, had a bad game and I thought he was outplayed by his counterpart Vernon Macklin.

My Grades:

Frontcourt: A- While Blair had a great game on offense and especially on defense, Young could not get in rhythm and was not aggressive enough. Biggs gave Pitt quality minutes off the bench with some offensive rebounds.

Backcourt: A+ Excellent play from both Ramon and Benjamin with a combined 36 points, 6 assists and only 1 turnover and controlling the clock. The only negatives were Wannamaker and Brown, who struggled on offense but played okay defense

Intangibles: B+ While we beat Georgetown in offensive rebounds (12-8) and steals (6-2), we lost in blocks (7-0) and more importantly free thow percentage (.846 to .654) which we need to close off games

I hope this game will boost our confidence and carry us through our conference schedule into the tournament!
